It was reported in the Times today that fake adverts for the sale of horses were posted on reputable equestrian websites. Ownership documents, photos and videos of the horse were supplied, believing the horse to be based in the UK. On agreeing to buy, an agent of a transport company, requests a transfer of funds to pay for the horse and transport.
It will come as no surprise that the horse was not delivered, with the scammer being based in the Cameroon.
In my experience, buying a horse demands a physical inspection, even from a legitimate source, so why someone should buy one on line, points to a misguided belief in the seller’s honesty.
